Safety of U.S. secured after border agents seize 4,000 bongs

A shipment of nearly 4,000 glass bongs has been seized by Customs and Border Protection officers at Washington Dulles International Airport, the agency has announced .

“The seizures of glass bongs and unreported currency may seem innocuous at first; however, they illustrate the resolve and commitment that Customs and Border Protection officers and specialists [demonstrate] every day to enforce our nation’s laws, to enhance our nation’s economic vitality through lawful international trade and travel, and to help keep our citizens safe,” said Daniel Escobedo, CBP Area Port Director for the Area Port of Washington, D.C.

That said, bongs can also provide a layer of self-defence.

Take, for instance, the dispensary worker in Shannonvile, Ont., that fended off four would-be robbers by swinging a glass bong at them in 2018 .
