Soldier taking Army course caught with 81 parcels of dried cannabis leaves

A man connected to the Nigerian Army who was undertaking a development course got schooled when he was pulled over by highway patrol officer who found 81 parcels of dry cannabis leaves.

The country’s Indian Hemp Act notes it is illegal to plant, cultivate, import, export, sell, possess, use or have related paraphernalia.

Illegally growing the plant, for example, could result in a death or life sentence in prison. Importing or exporting weed is punishable by at least 21 years in prison.

Beyond the cannabis, the National Police Force reports that the military’s man vehicle contained an army uniform, two Michelin tires, one army helmet, a bag of clothes and some charms, all of which were confiscated.

The driver was expected to be handed over to Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
