Spain’s national police made another first when they initially went looking for a cannabis farm and found a cryptocurrency mining operation instead.

Police report in a statement that officers were investigating what was suspected of being an illegal indoor grow-op in the community of Santiponce.
Upon additional probing, though, “the agents realized that the existing indications did not correspond to the cultivation of marijuana, but rather that these facilities could be hosting a cryptocurrency farm,” notes a police statement in Spanish.
