Study: Arthritis sufferers who exercised had endocannabinoids that changed their gut microbes and helped ease their pain

Researchers from the University of Nottingham in the U.K. found that arthritis patients who exercised saw some big benefits: less pain and less inflammation.

The findings, detailed in their study published this week in Gut Microbes , are based on tests involving 78 people with arthritis broken into two groups. One group of 38 patients did 15 minutes of muscle-strengthening exercises every day for six weeks; 40 others did nothing, study authors say in a university statement.
