A study presented at the annual European College of Neuropsychopharmacology conference has found that psilocybin, the psychoactive compound found in magic mushrooms, can affect the way we emotionally respond to music.

Led by Danish scientists, 20 healthy individuals took part in the study and listened to Elgar’s Enigma Variations and Mozart’s Laudate Dominum before and after taking a controlled dose of psilocybin, per Science Focus .
Researchers found that the psilocybin increased the participants’ reported emotional response to the music by an average of 60 per cent.
