Study: Two hemp compounds shown to stop coronavirus from entering human cells

U.S. investigators exploring whether or not hemp compounds can help combat COVID-19 and its variants suggest that two specific cannabinoid acids could play a role in both prevention and treatment.

Using a mass spectrometry-based screening technique invented at Oregon State University (OSU), a university statement notes that researchers there and at the Oregon Health & Science University discovered “a pair of cannabinoid acids bind to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, blocking a critical step in the process the virus uses to infect people.”
