This tiny Colorado town could be renamed ‘Kush’

The town of Moffat, Colo., home to about 120 people, could soon be known as Kush, at least if one cannabis entrepreneur gets his way.

Mike Biggio is the co-founder of Area 420, a local 420-acre business park that’s zoned for commercial grows, testing labs, research facilities and more.

According to the Denver Post, 70 grow operations are currently working out of Area 420, likely making it the highest concentration of cannabis producers in the state.

Biggio proposed the name change this week during Moffat’s Board of Trustees meeting.

The cannabis industry has been a boon to the tiny town, Cassandra Foxx, Moffat’s mayor, told the Denver Post. The town collected about $400,000 in excise taxes last year, nearly all of it from cannabis.
