Three U.S. marines based in Okinawa, Japan recently indicted for allegedly trying to smuggle cannabis into the country through the mail could face a decade in prison and hard labour, according to a report by Stars and Stripes.

Two Marines were formally charged on Nov. 9 and a third was indicted later that month, the publication cites a government spokesperson as saying.
In one case, customs officials intercepted a parcel containing a little more than a quarter-pound (113 grams) of weed and less than five grams of cannabis liquid last April. The parcel had come from California.
