What started as a raid on a Toronto cannabis dispensary has led to one officer resigning from the Toronto Police Service and a second admitting to eating cannabis edibles while on duty.
The senior officer then took his partner’s radio, ran up the street and called for an ambulance. One of the officers who responded to that emergency call slipped on ice upon arrival and suffered a concussion.
The second officer, who read out an apology during the tribunal earlier this week, is still awaiting a decision. During the tribunal, the officer admitted to making a “huge mistake.”
“In doing so, I caused great embarrassment and injury to the reputation of the service and my fellow officers, and for that, I am deeply sorry” the officer reportedly said, per CBC.
