An international student in Toronto is claiming her debit and credit cards were stolen and used to purchase cannabis and other items.
“I had about $60 cash, 4 credit and debit cards from 2 different banks, a presto card with $46 funds and some pictures of me and my family in the [cardholder],” the student notes in an Instagram post.
The post also includes images of additional charges, including $207.85 at 7-11 and $158.59 at Shoppers Drug Mart, and confirmation of an online police report.
A day after sharing the post, the student shared a message from another Instagram user who claims they were “victims of the same thief.” According to that message, the unidentified person had their wallet stolen from a Planet Fitness location, with their cards immediately put to use, in some instances at the same locations and in similar amounts.
