Tory MP Crispin Blunt urged Prime Minister Boris Johnson to allow research into the benefits of psilocybin, the psychoactive compound found in magic mushrooms, in the U.K. parliament earlier this week.

“Some of the science was emerging in the 1960s before our current drugs laws closed it down,” Blunt said during one exchange with Kit Malthouse, the minister for crime and policing, after Malthouse said there are currently no plans to reschedule psilocybin.
