Guyana’s Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) recently made a big bust when it found three men, including two cousins, and their 717 kilograms of cannabis.
CANU’s Special Operations Team, aided by the Guyana Defence Force Coast Guard, were carrying out a joint operation in De Veldt when they came upon a building occupied by several individuals, including minors.
Their search of the building revealed parcels of suspected cannabis, which later tested positive, weighing 717 kilograms, notes a Facebook post by CANU. The street value of the drugs is estimated at $474,000.
Three men “were arrested and escorted” to CANU headquarters, the statement notes. “The cannabis seized is believed to have been intended for transshipment to another territory,” it adds.
