Truck driver allegedly transported 34 kilos of cannabis on a ferry across the Irish Sea

A 38-year-old U.K. man stood trial this week for allegedly transporting 34 kilograms of cannabis across the Irish Sea.

The court heard that the man was to be paid £1,000 ($1,700) to deliver the haul, reports Sunday World.

The man’s truck was stopped and inspected after getting off the ferry from Cairnryan, a village in Scotland.

In addition to the cannabis, police also recovered a knife that the man said he carried for his own protection. The trailer was able to carry 26 pallets but was only carrying eight, which further attracted the attention of officers.
