U.S. Coast Guard seizes $1.3 billion in cocaine and cannabis

The U.S. Coast Guard recently intercepted a massive amount of cocaine and cannabis reported to be worth slightly more than $1.3 billion.

The drug interdiction this week involved the USCGC James off-loading about 31,978 kilograms of illicit drugs, notes a tweet from Admiral Karl Schultz.

The massive haul from the international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea is the result of 23 separate suspected drug smuggling interdictions by five Coast Guard cutters and four other partner vessels.

The hefty haul was off-loaded this week at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, according to NBC Miami.
