Asked if he noticed the distinctly skunky odour in the arena as he approached the ring, Vera responded, “C’mon, oh f**k yeah. I was trying to get a hit of that,” per Heavy.
Vera won the match with a fourth-round knockout of Cruz, who is a former, two-time UFC bantamweight champion.
“I came to the sport to be a world champion,” Vera said after the win, per Sports Illustrated. “I have the heart, I have the work ethic and now I have the people that will get me there.”
