Willie Nelson hosts a 420 Livestream pot-friendly show with famous friends

Willie Nelson

April 20 has slowly become a private marijuana holiday. This year, the celebrated country music composer Willie Nelson hosted a 420 pot-friendly party dubbed “Come And Toke It.”

The event, which streamed live, kicked off at 4:20 P.M. Central Time (2:20 P.M. Pacific Time). Famous friends of the legendary musician including Toby Keith, Bill Maher, Ziggy Marley, and many more signed up for the show that was “celebrating our favorite gal, Ms. Mary Jane.”

Four hours and twenty minutes

Willie’s fans both stoners and non-smokers had the opportunity to enjoy the event on Twitch and Facebook, scheduled to last four hours and twenty minutes. The show focused on “cannabis-centric music, food, education and comedy” in honor of the Last Prisoner Project.

After smoking the first joint in 1954, Nelson has never looked back. He’s been a strong crusader of cannabis legalisation, something he started long before weed became legal.

“It’s nice to watch it being accepted — knowing you were right all the time about it: that it was not a killer drug. It’s a medicine,” Nelson said during an interview in April 2019.

Partake in a special way

In a brief promo video last week, Nelson said: “Well, happy 4/20 out there, y’all…Y’all have a hit for me and pass it on.”

During the Willie Nelson hosted a 420 Livestream, viewers had the chance to be on air with Willie itself live. All they had to do was take a horizontal video of themselves as they partake of the day’s festivities. The video should feature viewers “receiving your toking or roasting material of choice (keep it legal, y’all) from the right and passing it left off-screen on your timeline…All videos must be hashtagged #ComeandTokeIt #PassLeft, tagged @williesreserveofficial @luckreunion, filmed in landscape orientation, and posted to your timeline to be eligible,” stated a post from Nelson’s Instagram page Willies Reserve.

The show is linked to Luck Reunion, Nelson’s “anti-festival” party that takes place annually in spring at his ranch in Luck, Texas. This year’s event was scheduled for March 19 but was cancelled together with most of his live events due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

More information about Luck Reunion is available on their official website.
